Lookout Mountain...well, sort of...
Vussie, Dussie and Bussie (sadly missing Carol and Connie, the Cussies), headed up Lookout Mountain from the trailhead at 6th Avenue. We barely paused to stop at the Chimney Creek intersection, just kept trucking up, up, up. But woe was us, Trax-less, we were halted by ice near the Windy Saddle junction and had to turn back. Three sassy young-uns passed us and smartly announced "we have Trax." Beth and Donna had to hold Val back from pounding their skinny little bodies. Undeterred, we hiked back to the trailhead and headed to Parfet Park in Golden for a very civilized lunch at a picnic table. In Carol's absence, we feasted on olives and feta cheese. To complete our hike, we headed down the Clear Creek trail for another mile or so until a creepy, solo male hiker made us decide to head back to a more populated area. What to do? Coffee, of course, at a lovely downtown Golden coffee shop, then a brief shopping trip at Baby Does. A great day, about 6.5 miles, and ready to go again next week.
