Tip Toe Through The Tulips

Beth and Donna decided to spend the Hussie day "hiking" the Botanic Gardens, Echter's and Timberline Gardens. It was an exhausting day, we logged almost 3 miles and exercised our credit cards extensively.

Don't look for a photo of our lunch at the Pho Grill in Edgewater, we are too embarrassed by the amount of food consumed by a mere two people.

It's possible that Beth is still at Timberline Gardens - Donna left her there, happily skipping her way through the aisles with her long wish list.

Tax Day Hike to Red Rocks

With only two hiking hussies, Bussie and Vussie were hiking for five and did a 7 mile trek from Matthews/Winters parking lot to Red Rocks Amphitheater and back again. Before we started, Bussie discovered she left something in her car - fortunately she had to go back...see first slide. We encountered some fearless deer along the trail (OUR dear deer), some pretty awesome views (not to mention the ones at Red Rocks!), and Bussie did a little rock climbing on our way back (what a woman). We are so lucky!

Lookout Mountain...well, sort of...

Vussie, Dussie and Bussie (sadly missing Carol and Connie, the Cussies), headed up Lookout Mountain from the trailhead at 6th Avenue. We barely paused to stop at the Chimney Creek intersection, just kept trucking up, up, up. But woe was us, Trax-less, we were halted by ice near the Windy Saddle junction and had to turn back. Three sassy young-uns passed us and smartly announced "we have Trax." Beth and Donna had to hold Val back from pounding their skinny little bodies. Undeterred, we hiked back to the trailhead and headed to Parfet Park in Golden for a very civilized lunch at a picnic table. In Carol's absence, we feasted on olives and feta cheese. To complete our hike, we headed down the Clear Creek trail for another mile or so until a creepy, solo male hiker made us decide to head back to a more populated area. What to do? Coffee, of course, at a lovely downtown Golden coffee shop, then a brief shopping trip at Baby Does. A great day, about 6.5 miles, and ready to go again next week.
